Back in 2014, mobile searches surpassed those made from desktop computers and the trend has continued into 2017. The world has officially gone mobile.

Responsive web design is now more important than ever. 79% now use mobile to conduct local searches so it makes sense to respond and consider the process of converting your website into a responsive, mobile friendly experience. Make it easier for people on the move to get to the content they need.

 

Hmm ok, so what is responsive web design?

“Responsive web design (RWD) is an approach to web design aimed at allowing desktop webpages to be viewed in response to the size of the screen or web browser one is viewing with.

A site designed with RWD adapts the layout to the viewing environment by using fluid, proportion-based grids, flexible images and CSS3 media queries, an extension of the @media rule.”

In other words, web pages respond to the screen it is being viewed on and in this day-in-age, that could be desktop monitor, mobile, tablet and a multitude of television screen sizes.

74% are more likely to revisit mobile-friendly websites because they make it easier for people to find the content they are seeking and to navigate and interact with it in an experience constructed with you, the user in mind.

Not only that but also, the importance of responsive web design has increased even further since Google announced ‘Mobilegeddon’ (April 21, 2015), as they responded to statistics showing that the amount of mobile traffic had surpassed more than half of total internet traffic. Google started to boost the ratings of sites that are mobile friendly.

This example of user interface plasticity is vital to manufacturers’ websites, especially now that our online presence has a lasting impact on prospects and potential customers.
