Jo Grainger Operations Director

Jo Grainger

Operations Director

I sat down to write my bio and really consider what my role encompasses, and came to the conclusion that it’s a bit of everything!

The serious stuff

Looking after the operations side of S2F reaches into all areas of the business and I love the variety that my role brings. There is the very responsible side, managing the finances and keeping legislation up to date while ensuring the right compliance is in place to make the business run smoothly.

Then there’s all the internal procedures to get involved with; working closely with the whole team to ensure our working life runs smoothly and always, always, considering what tweaks and changes need to be made to respond to our ever-changing world.

On a lighter note…

What I delight in, is that my role presents different activities every single day, whether it’s meeting with colleagues, implementing better ways of working or considering how to deal with a new issue. No two days are the same and it means I never know what’s coming next and that’s what I love about working at S2F. What I can guarantee is that the excellent team will work together and support each other to get the best outcome for our clients and always ‘do the right thing’.

So, where have I been all my life?

I’ve been at work a long time – over 30 years (goodness, that’s hard to see written down). I’ve previously held roles involving Finance and HR at global and national businesses before joining S2F and think by now, I’ve seen most things and can always come up with ways to resolve matters that unexpectedly arise. My mantra at home and at work is “don’t panic” and this has enabled me to think clearly and step back and consider when faced with new challenges.

What else is there…

We’re a family of four, plus a springer spaniel so there’s always things going on at home. When I’m not wrestling with a mountain of washing and ironing, my favourite sit down is to any disaster movie where there’s an erupting volcano/avalanche/killer shark etc etc. Hmmmm… not sure what that really says about me…

Exercise is important of course; dog walking and weekly Pilates sessions where I can let my mind wander and just breathe…

I adore holidays with my family and to be by the sea somewhere is my absolute favourite destination. Travelling abroad, experiencing new cultures and a restaurant with a fabulous view always fills me with joy. Weekends spent catching up with friends – with the occasional glass of gin or prosecco thrown in – is the best pastime!
