Leigh Godby

Graphic Designer

Having joined at the start of June 2022, I’m a relatively new face at S2F. I’ve been in the creative industry for most of my adult life, long enough to remember a discussion involving a colleague’s excitement for the new layers feature in Photoshop mixed with my excitement at buying a National Lottery ticket on its launch night!

Since then, I’ve been lucky enough to have worked in a wide array of sectors and in several media formats, creating anything from print motifs for fashion clothing, to product packaging, to magazine layouts, to websites, and just about everything in between.

I’ve always thought creatives are a bit like the software we use – we need updating regularly! It’s my firm belief that personal growth and development are key to ensuring clients receive a service that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but relevant to the needs of their target audience on any given medium, particularly in today’s rapidly evolving society.

Experience has also taught me that one golden rule for design stands head and shoulders above all others: listen. Listen to design trends, listen to colleagues’ input, listen to those inner voices telling you to change the font, listen to the target audience… but most of all, listen to your client. Actively listen! it’s the only way you’ll truly understand their needs and expectations. This is something I’ve hopefully become good at doing over the years.

Why do I love working at M4M?

It was obvious the moment I started at S2F that the team love what they do. They take pride in it, and that makes for a very happy and productive workplace. The team are also immensely invested in the people they work with, whether it’s colleagues or clients. They take a genuine interest in what you have to say, no matter how trivial, and it’s always with a smile.

Hobby

I’m fortunate enough to hold a few volunteer roles with the Scout Association, so my hobby (if you can call it that) is giving young people and adults the chance of life changing adventure and friendship. I also love spending quality time with my family and Maggie, our Romanian rescue dog.

Holiday

Anywhere with a good view really. Somewhere I can relax, switch off and enjoy a bit of quality time with my family. It could be exploring the English south coast, lazing around a sun-soaked pool in the Greek islands, or strolling up an Austrian mountain pass.

Food

A favourite would be difficult to pick. I enjoy eating (and cooking) a wide array of good tasting food from different cultures. I think top of the list would be a close tie between a medium-rare steak and stilton ciabatta cooked on an open log fire, or a nice cheese, spinach and pancetta gnocchi.

Film

So many to choose from! I think it all depends on the mood I’m in, but top of my list would be The Usual Suspects, Heat, Lord of the Rings and Restless Natives (an extremely cheesy and tongue in cheek cult classic from the mid 80s).
